Overview
Expense Tracker (the “App”, package com.nitcart.expensetracker) is a personal finance app designed to help you manage transactions, budgets, accounts, and categories on your device.
Permissions & Data Access
CAMERA
Used only when you choose to scan a receipt. Text recognition runs on-device and the photo is not uploaded.
NOTIFICATIONS
Used to show recurring-bill reminders and import notifications. Optionally, you can grant notification access so the App reads your bank and UPI app transaction alerts to create draft expenses for your review — this is off by default.
BIOMETRIC
Used only if you turn on app lock to protect access to the App.
INTERNET
Used to serve ads (see “Advertising” below). The App’s own features — tracking, budgets, receipt scanning, backup and any import — work fully offline; the network is used only by the ad component, and none of your transactions, accounts or budgets are ever transmitted.
Data Stored on Your Device
- Transactions and account data — Your expenses, income, categories, accounts, budgets, and recurring items are stored locally in an encrypted database on your device.
- App preferences — Settings such as currency, theme, app lock, and import preferences are stored locally and are not shared with the developer.
- Exports — If you choose to export your data as a CSV file, that file is created only when you request it and is shared only where you choose to send it.
Data Transmission
The App does not have its own account system or backend. It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal or financial information — your transactions, accounts, categories and budgets — to the developer or any third party.
Receipt scanning and any notification-based import are handled on your device, and none of that content is uploaded as part of normal App use. The only data that leaves your device is what the ad component (Google AdMob) needs to serve ads — see “Advertising” below. Backup files you create go only where you choose to save them (see “Backup & restore”).
Backup & restore OPTIONAL
The App can save a backup of your data to a file. The App itself does not upload anything and has no cloud account: when you tap Back up, your device’s file picker asks where to save it, and the file goes only where you choose — on the device, or to any storage service you have installed.
- What it contains — your transactions, accounts, categories, recurring rules and app settings. Receipt images are not included.
- Encryption — you may set a password when backing up, which encrypts the file so only someone with that password can read it. A password cannot be recovered if forgotten. Without a password the file is readable by anyone who opens it, so choose where you save it accordingly.
- Deleting it — a backup is an ordinary file; delete it wherever you saved it.
Advertising
The App is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob (Google LLC). To show ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may access and share a device advertising identifier and limited device/technical information (such as general location derived from IP, and ad-interaction data) with Google, in line with Google’s Privacy Policy.
The App itself does not use analytics services and does not send your financial data to advertisers. You can reset or limit ad personalisation from your device’s Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your data remains on your device. If you uninstall the App or clear its data, the local information stored by the App is removed from the device. You can also export your data at any time.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
